September 2020

Upon starting a traineeship with the Warren Arts Council, Kaiya was the events coordinator of the Manjimup Bluegrass & Old Time Music Weekend that took place over the long weekend in September 2020. Kaiyas jobs included making sure the events followed the time table correctly, ensuring all venues were following correct covid-19 protocols, as well as checking in with her staff and volunteers on a regular basis. Kaiya conducted volunteer inductions prior to the commencement of the event and had a thorough risk management plan available at all venues to allow all volunteers and staff to be properly equipped to handle situations when she was not able to be there in person.  Thanks to the support by the State Governments Royalties for Regions program as part of the regional arts and cultural investment program, and regional arts WA - as well as funding from Healthway, myself and the Warren Arts Council were able to put on a safe and successful event that was enjoyed by all.

KINO

KLANDESTINO

May 2019

Kino Kandestino is a yearly secret cinema event that brings a cinematic experience into an unconventional location. The location of the 8th edition of Kino took place at the Ikea in Groningen and saw Ikea furniture turn into cinema style seating and the undercover carpark transformed into a one off bar and restaurant. Kaiya was a part of the set up team which helped this one of cinema come to life. Roles included relocating furniture and assisting in any stock of the bar that was required.

Once the Cinema set up was complete Kaiya was then put in charge of crowd and traffic control where she was given a team of volunteers to help set up adequate check points. This included ensuring people cycling were following the right path and ended with ticket check and collection before entering the pop up cinema.
