Celebrating Andreas Florez

Whilst completing her first year of study, Kaiya was involved in the organisation and execution of a fundrasing event to raise money for the Andreas Florez Travel Scholarship for Artistic Excellence. Andreas had graduated from the RMIT music industry course in 2015 and sadly passed away 6 months later. Kaiya and her class mates liasied closey with Andreas family to make sure an event could be created that captured the spirit of Andreas and help to give back to the music community that he loved so much.

It was an exciting project to be a part of and involved Kaiya and her classmates researching and reaching out to artists that would be a good fit for the event. During the night Kaiya was also in charge of live streaming many of the performances through the REMIT Records Facebook page so those who were not able to attend had the chance to watch from home.

Overall this project was very rewarding for Kaiya to be a part of and gave an insight into how the music community can come together in times of hardship and provide support.
